' Tho Wingatui, which arrived yesterday afternoon, discharged her cargo last night and left for Port Chalmers this morning for docking and painting. She is to return to the Birch street wharf to-morrow afternoon to load out, sailing on Saturday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Picton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Totara now leaves Wellington tomorrow for Dunedin, where she is due early on Monday morning to load cargo. She" sails from here on Monday afternoon for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and New Plymouth. The Orepuki is timed to sail to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. This afternoon the John arrived from Picton to take in general cargo. Tho vessel sails to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. Tho Waipahi, from Suva, Levuka, Apia, and Nukualofa, is due at Auckland on October 19. THE FERRY SERVICE. Tho Wahinc, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.45 this morning, and passengers and mails connected with the south express. WAINUI LEAVES MELBOURNE. The Union Company advises that tho Wainni left Melbourne at 4 p.m. yesterday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. Sbo is due here on Tuesday morning to discharge cargo, including transhipments ex Quilia, Tallyrand, Moolta, Otranto, and Niouw Holland. KIWITEA FROM SOUTH AUSTRALIA. The Union Company's steamer Kiwilea, from Melbourne and Edithburg, is scheduled to leave Adelaide next Saturday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Casllecliff to discharge general cargo. Tho motor liner Otaio loft Liverpool on Saturday for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Timaru. and New Plymouth. She is duo at Auckland on November 15. RANGATIRA IN DOClx. Tlve Union Company’s ferry .steamer Rangatira was docked at Wellington on Monday morning, and she remained in dock until this morning. She will leave Wellington next Monday lor Lyttelton. The Wahinc will arrive on Sunday morning, and will sail on Tuesday night for Lyttelton. The Maori will arrive on Tuesday morning from Lyttelton, and will withdraw from tho service. PORT FREMANTLE FROM- LONDON. The Port Fremantle, which sailed from London on September 30 lor Suva, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff, is due at Lyttelton about November 11. NARBADA TO LOAD AT CALCUTTA. The Union Company's chartered Indian trader Narbada is to at Calcutta late in November for New Zealand ports, including Bluff. Sailing early in December, the vessel will call at Penang, Singapore, ami Samaraug to complete loading.

CARGO FROM NEW YORK. Tho Ansti-alind is expected to arrive at Auckland on October 31 from Now York via Gulf of Mexico ports. She will discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australia. ’The Port Hunter is to sail from New York on October 29 for Auckland, Wellington, Lvttclton. and Duucdiu. She is duo at Auckland on November 29. THE SOUTHERN CROSS. The Melanesian Mission’s new motor vessel Southern Cross arrived at Auckland from London early on Sunday morning. Tho voyage was prolonged by bad weather, and on two occasions by trouble with the engines. The vessel was nine days at Balboa, having engine repairs effected, and when she was south of Tahiti a cyclonic storm was encountered and tho speed of tho vessel had to bo considerably reduced for three da vs until the conditions improved. The stormy conditions in the Atlantic and Pacific "tested her seaworthiness, and in spite of the conditions she averaged 8 knots during tho voyage. Alter refitting at Auckland the vessel will sail next week for the South-west PacificIslands, where she will he stationed. PERSONAL. Tho Wahinc commissioned at Wellington on Monday under the command of Captain B. B. Irwin. His deck officers are: Cbiet, Mr T. S. Mac Nicol; second, Mr W. 11. C. Millwood; third, Mr R. B. Steere. Mr R. N. Turner has joined the Alaunganui at Sydney as temporary second officer, relieving Air F. W. Voting for holidays. Mr I. L. Russell has joined the Kini ns third officer, relieving Air L. L. Clark, who has transferred to the Wingatui in a similar capacity, relieving Air J. H. Johnson, who is now temporary third officer of the Tamahine. Air A. AV. Babbitts is now second officer of tho Kini, having relieved Air AV. Kelioe for holidays. Mr E. R. Pate has joined the AVaipiata as third officer, temporarily Relieving Mr A. C. Crosbic for holidays.
