Make a pint of Edmonds Vanilla flavoured Custard, and when cooked, stir in one cupful of white breadcrumbs. Pour the mixture into a buttered pie -dish, and push eight or nine dates down into it. Bake for twenty minutes in slow oven. Then whip the white of one egg with two tablespoons sugar to a stiff meringue ~. Spread the top of the pie with jam (apricot is best) pile the meringue in spoonfuls on lop and return to very slow oven to set until pale golden brown.
