Kid: on) supplied the following at noon to-day:—The indications arc for moderate easterly winds shortly, varying by cast to south, freshening; there is a prospect of fair weather, increasing haze and cloudiness, and later some scattered showers; the -weather will probably become colder shortly; barometer rising; seas moderate, tides good. ARRlVED.—September 27. , Waimii, s.s. (7 a.m.), 1,633 tons, Howie, from Melbourne via Bluff. SAlLED.—September 2G. Wingatni, s.s. (11.30 p.m.), 2,378 tons, Whitefiekl, for Auckland via ports. September 27. Poolta, s.s. (noon), 1,075 lons, Dalgleisli, for Gisborne via ports. The Wingatni left last night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. After loading for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne the Poolta sailed hence this morning. The Eastern trader Narbada was clear of her cargo at the Victoria wharf this morning, and sailed later for Bluff, thence Newcastle and Calcutta. The Gale is timed to sail from port to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Pieton, and Wanganui. The Orepuki is duo at this port on Saturday to load for Auckland via ports. The Holmdale is due here on Thursday to take in cargo for Oamarn, Timarn, Lyttelton, Wellington, Pieton, and Wanganui. The John is fixed to load here next Friday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Rangatira, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton .at 6.40 this morning, and passengers and mails caught the south express. PORT WHANGAREI DUE -MONDAY. Messrs Keith Ramsay and Co., advise that the motor ship Port Whangarei is duo at Dunedin on October 3 from Sydney and Newcastle via northern ports to discharge and load general cargo. She sails the same day for Wellington, Tnuranga, Auckland, ‘ and Whangarei via ports. NORFOLK AT SUVA. Cabled advice has been received that the Federal steamer Norfolk reached Suva on Friday from London, five days ahead of schedule. She will later proceed to Lyttelton. Dunedin, Blulf, and Timaru to complete discharge of her London cargo, and is now due at Lyttelton about October I. WAINFI IN PORT. 'The Union Company's steamer Wainui arrived tins morning from .Melbourne via Bluff In discharge general cargo. She -ailed again this afternoon for Lvtlelton. Wellington. Bluff, and Melbourne. ZEALANDIA DELAYED. Telegraphic advice from Wellington states that the Zcalandia, from Sydney, is not expected to roach port until 7 o’clock this evening, being twelve hours overdue. The Zealamlin carries passengers for New Zealand. CANADIAN VESSEL DUE. The local agents for the Canadian Cruiser advise that the vessel is due here to-morrow morning from Lyttelton to put out a quantity of cargo from Canada. She aiso loads for the trip back, afterwards calling at Bluff before returning to New York. Boston, and Montreal. BLUFF TUG AWARUA. At. the monthly meeting of the Bluff Harbour Board, held on Friday, reports were received from the board’s engineer (Air D. E. S. Mason), Messrs Coward and Co.. London, and Messrs E. H, Mitchell and Go., Ncweastlc-on-Tyne, dealing with the trials of the new tug Awarua, which took place at Renfrew on July 4. The vessel performed very satisfactorily on her trials, and there was every indication that she was a first-class job. Cabled advice received by the board indicated that the vessel had loft Glasgow on August 23 on the voyage to New Zealand, and was making good progress, having loft Suez on .September 10. It is anticipated that the vessel will arrive in New Zealand waters in approximately the first week in November. She will be available

for work in Bluff Harbour about the middle of that mouth. CONVERSION TO TOURIST CLASS. Considerable structural alterations are being made to the New Zealand Shipping Company’s well-known liner Rotorua, 12,200 tons, which is being converted into a tourist class ship. The now accommodation will include single-berth cabins, bedstead cabins, and private bathrooms. Additional single and twn-bedstcad cabins are being built on the promenade deck, and large new cabins are being fitted on tiro upper deck. Those will be furnished to correspond with the other accommodation, which until quite recently was rated as first class. The ship is also being provided with an open-air swimming bath. The Rotorua on her next voyage will leave New Zealand on March 10, enabling her tourist class passengers to arrive in England in mid-April. VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
