NO. 1 DISTRICT

The weekly meeting of the executive of No. 1 district was held in the Town Hall, North-east Valley, on Friday night. The chairman (the Rev. C. G. Wilcox) welcomed Mr Sanders, , the committee’s representative on the Central Executive. Mr Sanders gave a report on the previous meeting ox the Central Committee. The rules to govern the co-operative purchasing scheme were submitted, discussed, and approved. Information from the central body stated that one sack of coal (Kaitangata 2s 6d, Taratu Is 9d) and two sacks of wood at Is each per month might bo purchased by relief workers after August 1. Arrangements are in hand for the Orkney and Shetland Island Choir party next Saturday. The rules of the purchasing scheme were submitted to a meeting of those who have enrolled at the depot. The men accepted them and very soon had groups of nine filled up and the first draws completed. Thanks are due to Dr Herrington for a parcel, Mowat and Co. eight parcels, A. V. Thomson nine parcels, Barnett three parcels, Harvey two parcels, and axis G. W. Thomson for clothing. The next meeting is fixed for next Thursday night.
