Stevens), answering a Labour member, Mr H. Knight, said that the Government was now giving the closest consideration to the police report concerning the activities of the New Guard, and its recommendation that seven prominent New Guardsmen should be prosecuted for seditious conspiracy, Mr Stevens added that the Government would be guided entirely by a further report which the Crown Law Office was preparing. There would bo no attempt to interfere with the activities of responsible police officer,; on the contrary, the police would Ik; given unrestricted power to preserve peace and good order.
