ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

DIED UNCONSCIOUS. Thomas Bostock, married, aged thirty-six, a motor mechanic, of Wanganui, who was picked up on the road near Fordell last Saturday evening, died in hospital last night without having regained consciousness. When Bostook was found an undamaged bicycle lay nearby. BELIEVED BORN IN DUNEDIN. A correspoondent from Utorohanga wires:—“A labourer, Ernst George Sorgel was fatally injured in a fall of metal at the pit at Kiokio. Sorgel was working in company with others when the face of the pit slipped, completely covering him. He was quidkiy excavated by his fellow-workers, and taken to the residence of a' neighbouring farmer. Medical attention was called and the ambulance ordered from Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, 'but tho youth expired before tbe arrival of the ambulance. The inquest, before Mr R. H. Somerville, was adjourned after evidence of identification, and of William Hannah, farmer, of Kiokio, who said that deceased had lived in the district for some time. He was believed to have been at one time in the Wesley Home for Orphans at Auckland. Sorgel is believed to have been born at Clyde street, Dunedin, in March, 1912, and the relatives, if any, are believed to be in Dunedin. The inquest was adjourned sine die. [An inquiry from the local police elicited.the information that Sorgel was born in Dunedin in 1912, but that his relatives are believed to"reside in Auckland.] STILL NO IMPROVEMENT. It was reported to-day by the hospital authorities that there is still no improvement in the condition of the 63months’ old child, Edward George Bell, who was admitted on Sunday suffering from concussion.
