Bishop Whyte left this morning for Invercargill to attend a conference of clergy there. Hr C. R. Burns was a passenger by the north express this ■ lining en. route .to England. Mr H. R Mercer (of the Egypt General Mission), who has been lecturing in Otago and Southland, and who gave an address to the students of the ' University last night, left for Wanganui this morning, accompanied by Mr Alex. Mill (organis.ng secretary for New Zealand of the mission). Mr Justice MacGregor arrived yesterday from Wellington on a short visit, to Dunedin. ’ , Miss Dorothy Sligo, of Dunedin, who was placed first in the operatic soprano solo at the Christchurch Competitions on Monday evening, secured another success Ipst evening, when she was' placed first in the soprano test.
