Tho severest storm in the memory of tho pr--out generation brought down several buildings, and also tho walls of the Mymensingh Gaol in East Bengal. (Received May 11, at 10 a.m.) Twenty-two warders, convicts, and political prisoners were killed and over. LOO injured when the Mymensingh Gaol collapsed in the tornado. It is feared that many are buried in the debris, and rescue • parties worked feverishly all night in the blinding rain and darkness. In tho confusion panic-stricken prisoners clambered over the ruins and escaped into the jungle. Many were recaptured in a round up by an armed force. Two hundred and twenty are still at large. The gaol was almost wrecked. Portions of the brick walls and iron girders were lifted bodily by the force of the wind and flung long distances. The tornado travelled at a speed of 115 miles per hour, and swept the agricultural districts, leaving a trail of ruin. The peasants’ frail houses were razed, and many people were killed and injured, The casualties are unknown. The tornado also struck villages in the Allahabad district. Twelve people were killed and over 100 injured. Scores of cattle perished.
