In the Senate the Tax Bill, which is designed to raise 1,010,000,000 dollars, was favourably reported on by the Finance Committee tb-day by a unanimous vote of the leaders, who hope to effect its passage within the next two weeks. Then an attempt will be made to compromise on tbs differences with the House. The measure provides for higher individual and corporation income taxes and lower stock and bond transfer levies. It also provides for a 10 per cent, tax on all cablegrams, including Press despatches, which the llouse exempted.
