SESSION’S END SATURDAY?
IS PREMIER OVER SANGUINE ? [From Our Parliamentaex Reporter.] WELLINGTON, May 2. Although Mr Forbes is confident that ho can conclude the business of the present session by next Saturday morning, there are many of bis supporters who think that their leader is showing excessive optimism. “ Even working at high pressure,” said one of them tonight, “ it may take ns a fortnight to get the docks cleared.” Ministers, however, are more sanguine, and are eagerly looking forward to the final ringing of the division bells. The session from their point of view has been an ordeal, many long hours having been spent in close Cabinet consultations while the rank-and-filo members were enjoying week-end respites in their electorates. Air Forbes, who has bad a particularly trying time, is bearing up well under the strain, although be is still working at a pressure to which few ordinary parliamentarians could respond. Ho lias not decided yet whether he will spend a few days in his electorate after the session ends. “ I would like to have a few days at Cheviot if I could manage it,” ho remarked to-night.
