STATE SUPERANNUATION

PROTRACTED INVESTIGATIONS [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, May 2. Owing to the protracted nature of its investigations tho departmental committee appointed about two years ago to look into the state of the Public bervice, Teachers’, and Railway Superanmiatiou Funds lias been lost sight of during recent months. It had been expectcd that tho report of tho committee’would have been in tho Lands of the Government before the present session of Parliament commenced, but no indication is yet available as to when the committee will complete its work. The possibility that a report will not be presented, in view of tho fact or the National Expenditure Cmnmissiou inquiring into the same subject, was mentioned to-night to Mr Forbes, who said that ho was unable to state whether that course was proposed to bo adopted. Ho said tho committee had been a particularly useful one, and had had to deal with some difficult points from time to time. It was possible that the data which had been collected up to date would be placed before tho Royal Commission, and thus assist it to arrive at recommendations based on_ the evidence tho departmental committee had adduced. [ii referring to the question 01 otate superannuation funds in its interim ren'-, the commission indicated that it not had time to go thoroughly into the issue, and would embody its conclusions in a final report, which will not now reach tho Government until early in June.
