"COME TO DUNEDIN WEEK"
TUG-OF-WAR CONTEST In connection with the “ Come to Dunedin Week ” celebrations a meeting was held in the Town Hall on Saturday to arrange tor a tug-of-war contest. There were present Captain Satterthwaite (chairman), Messrs IS. E Wheeler, J. Mathewson, Neil Shaw, P. Davis, and G. Errington. It was agreed that a tug of war be held in the Town Hall on May 28, and entries were received from the following teams : —Hillside Workshops, New Zealand Breweries (Speight’s branch), and the Post and Telegraph Department. It was decided to invite Territorial units, senior football teams, and other organisations, including teams from Waihola and Milton and the Maoris at the Kaik and Puketeraki, to lend their support. It was decided to divide the contest into two classes—list average ami any weight. Several speakers expressed the opinion that the contest would be a great success, and one of the principal features of the week.
