THE CHORAL SOCIETY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In connection with tho “Como to Dunedin Week,” I understand that the Choral Society intends to give a concert. This society has done an immense service to music ja this city, tor not only has it acquainted music lovers with many beautilul, yet little-known, works, but it has also reached a high standard in its performances. It is to be regretted that it is the custom to give only one performance yearly of Handel’s immortal oratorio, the ‘ Messiah,’ for apart from its spiritual aspect this work is famous for its inspiring music. Even though the “ Come to Dunedin Week” is drawing near, might 1 suggest that the Choral Society present this oratorio? The music is so familiar to its members that 1 am sure that with a few practices its performance could be made possible.— I am, etc., Lover op Music. May 2.
