BATHROOM SHELF

SUBSTITUTE FOR TABLE A dressing table in the bathroom is a groat convenience. Many bathrooms, however, are too small to contain a dress table. For them a satisfactory sebstitute is a wide shelf attached to the wall. It should be placed at table height if there is room for a small stool before it; otherwise at a convenient height for use when standing. It will take up no extra space in the room if it is put above a radiator, a clothes hamper, or something of that kind. Or it may bo made triangular so it will fit into a corner, thus taking up very little room. An ideal shelf is made of a single hoard three-quarters of an inch thick, lofin wide, and 28in long. ft should be attached securely to the wall, which can bo done by placing a bracket of wood or metal underneath each end. A moulding standing half an inch high around the top of the shelf in front and at both ends lias been found desirable, as it prevents articles from slipping off, When this shelf and its supports have been painted to correspond with an attractive colour scheme in woodwork or walls it looks very decora tile.
