POLICE COURT
— .MONDAY, APRIL 18. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Albert Joseph Bell was fined 12s, in default forty-eight hours’ imprison; raent. A first offender was fined 10s, in default twenty-four hours. PROBATIONER IMPRISONED. Robert Johnstone was cbkrged with failing to comply with the provisions of his release upon probation. He/ pleaded guilty. _ The Probation Officer (Mr J. Garbutt) said the accused had not reported. He had simply flouted every; provision of his release. Counsel said the accifsed had heed ordered to report- weekly, then fortnightly, and later monthly. He had been at his own address all the time. The Magistrate said it was quite evident that the accused had not obeyed the terms of his probation. He had been given every chance. He would be convicted and dealt with on the original charge and sentenced to a month a imprisonment.. WIRELESS INSTALLATION. For installing a wireless set without' having a permit to ,do so, Samuel de Beer was convicted and fined court costs (10s). MAINTENANCE. Iris Martin was charged with the ~ disobedience of a maintenance order, the arrears amounting to £l7 9s. After evidence had been heard the arrears to date were remitted, and the informa*tion for disobedience was dismissed., AFFILIATION PROCEEDINGS. Cyril Matthew Dwyer was proceeded against for affiliation and maintenance orders in respect to an unborn _ child.After hearing evidence the Magistrate adjourned the case till May 2 %o enable the medical attendant s certificate to be obtained. . . Further evidence was given in the case in which affiliation and maintenance orders were sought against w ton Cossens. , (Proceeding.)
