PHAR LAP’S DEATH
COLIC OR ACUTE INDIGESTION FINDINGS OF UNIVERSITY PATHOLOGISTS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SAN FRANCISCO, April 14. (Received April 15, at 8.40 a.m.) The Hooper Medical Foundation of the University of California reported to-day that Phar Lap died of colic or acute indigestion condition. The report said the condition probably resulted from fermentation of food in his stomach, causing bloating or distention of the muscles of the heart and stopping that organ. Chemical analysis, they said, revealed two milligrams of a deadly poison in Phar Lap’s stomach. About a normal quantity of this poison was to be found m the amount of green food Phar Lap had eaten. This amount should have been beneficial, the pathologists said.
