PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY
The Philharmonic first concert this year will be held in tlio Ooncerth Chamber on Tuesday next. A most interesting programme has been arranged for this concert, the programmo opening with the i Marche Triumphale,’ by Sqnarise, followed by the ever-popnlar overture, ‘La forza del destimo, ’ by Verdi. The tone pictuo, 1 From a Russian Village, by Marsden, is a very descriptive composition, and the first part cf the programme will conclude with the suite, ‘ Impressions Exotique,’ by Menton. The second part of the_ programme will open with the symphonic poem, ‘ Dance Maccabro ’ (Dance of Death), by Saint Saens, performed for the first time by the societv. The programme will conclude with the Chinese intermezzo, ‘ Sing Song Girl,’ by Thiolc, and the overture 1 Le Sorcicr du Pont-Avon, by Mont on. The vocalists will bo Miss Muriel Eagar and Mr Eric J. Macl'arlanc.
