RICH EVENTS AHEAD
NEW YORK, January 28. (Received January 29, at 11 a.m.) There is a possibility of the international race bringing together Phar Lap and the United States horses, Twenty Grand and Mate. J. Davis is considering bringing Phar Lap east for a clash "with the United States
thr 'e-year-old co-champions of last year. Much depends on . the horse’s showing against Dr Freeland, Plucky Way, and Marin© in the special race and the 50,000d0l handicap. Being a gelding, Phar Lap is not eligible for the Sara* togo Cup and the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont, but the Arlington Park Club, Chicago, offers three attractive purses for older horses during July,. The three stakes are Stars and Stripes, the Arlington Handicap, * and tho Arlington Cup, each of a gross value of more than 20,000d01. The meetings at Chicago apd Maryland, are also full of rich events. Phar Lap in the meantime will face strong opposition in the west.
