SALE OF YEARLINGS
[Per United Press Association.]
WELLINGTON, January 21. The sixth national sale of New Zealand thorough-bred yearlings was held at Trentham racecourse to-day. _ Australians were much stronger bidders for the eyes of the catalogue than New Zealanders, while lots that were considered well below par saw practically no demand. The Sydney trainer, G. Price, bought six lots, including the top-price, colt of the sale, a full brother to Agrion (Limond —Waterwings) for E. J. Watt. Only two of the six were for Price’s own stable. J. T. was the next highest purchaser at C2sgs for a brother to Commendation (Limond —Eulogy). There was not a great demand for Night Raids. H. R. Telford, who did so well with Phar Lap, got a Night Raid— Satisfaction colt for 450 gs, and he was the best of his sire’s stock. The brother to Phar Lap out of Entreaty was not sold, being passed in at 400 gs. He was on the small side.
