DRESS SMUGGLING

“ BLACK LIST " OF SUSPECTS The British authorities are determined to stamp out dress smuggling, which has_ recently increased astonishingly. It is stated that new and drastic instructions to stop this form -of tax evasion have been issued to the Customs officials at the English Channel and North Sea ports. A black list of alien suspects has been circulated. All of them are known to have engaged in smuggling on an extensive scale. If any of the persons on the list arrive at an English port, then he or she will bo subjected to a rigid search by the Customs authorities, with the assistance of the alien officer and the detectives of the political branch stationed at the ports. The majority of the suspects are women; some American, and others French and German. Most of them are wealthy people. One foreign music, hall star who has smuggle into England is named in a special order. She is to bo permitted to carry on with her engagements in England, but has been warned that she must leave England immediately at the end of her contracts, and that her return is forbidden. If she 'attempts to land at a British port she will be stopped and sent back to her own country.
