■ 1 MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting of .the commit* tee was held last evening. , The president (Mr G. A. Skene) occupied the chair, and there were present: Mrs J. Rodger, Miss A. MTntyre, Miss A, Cable, Messrs P. 0. Vallange, F. EU Hpllingwortli, J. B. Downes, H. S,; Hungerford, J. Miller, J. M'Cartuey,; J, Fleming, G. Attwood, S. B. Macdonald, F. S. Perrett, J. Mahoney, W. : Blackburn, J. H. Vickers, E. A. Hamel,; J. T. Gray, and M. Scott. , ■ The Canterbury Horticultural Society applied for the loan of vases from this society for its jubilee show, and the request was granted. A resolution of sympathy was passed to Mr Thom on the death of his father. The following judges were selected for the autumn show, to be held on February 24 and 25:—Pot plants and general cut flowers, Mr John Whyte; sweet peas, Mr G. Attwood; _ dahlias, , Mr H. S. Hungerford; gladioli, Mr E.: Oswald Reilly; secondary schools, Mrs P. Barling; decorative and floral work,; Mr F. S. Perrett; fruit and vegetables,; Mr F. H. Hollingworth. Messrs W. „ Strachan and P. Nelson were appointed to interview firms with a view to, getting them to exhibit in the competition for firms for the cup presented by Mr E. R. Burton. . . . Several members intimated their intention of attending the Canterbury; Society’s jubilee show at the end of the month. It was pointed out that if- a sufficient number travelled, together a concession in fare could be obtained. It was left to the secretary to make the necessary arrangements. ’ A committee was appointed to make arrangements for music at the show.'
