An “ electric finger ” capable of measuring tlio thinnest piece of material has been devised. It will bo employed to detect fraudulent reproductions of stock certificates, historic documents, or costly textiles. Mrs Mary Ann Crnttenden, of York road, Southend-on-Sea, England, who celebrated her one hundredth birthday recently, rises at (5 o’clock every morning, and does not go to bed until nearly 11 p.m.
