Miss Theomin, who has been spending a long holiday at tho Franz Josef Glacier and its environs, has returned to Dunedin. Miss Webster returned on Monday from Waiau, where she was the guest of Mrs Chaffey. Mrs Chilton, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs J. Cleghorn, Hart street, lloslyn. Dr and Mrs Evans have returned from Wanaka. Miss'F. M. Cargill loft on Tuesday for Timaru. She will attend the Speight-Napier wedding at Waimate today. Mr and Mrs Charles Turnbull returned on Monday from Sumner, Christchurch, where they were the guests of Mrs W. Turnbull. The Misses Nancy _ and Joy Ebcrhardt are at present visiting Timaru. Mrs T. F. Thomson and her daughter, of Ilfracombe, Cumberland street, are holiday-making in Roxburgh. Mrs J. F. Reid, of Burnside, Oamaru, is the guest of Miss AULean, Elder street. Mrs Percy Cameron, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs Angus Cameron, Leith street. Mr and Mrs R. S. Black returned to Dunedin to-day, after a few weeks’ holiday in Otago Central. Miss A. Morrell, who is at present visiting Christchurch, is the guest of Miss Doreen Hight, Rugby street.

Mr and Mrs J. W. Becker, Royal terrace, who spent the holidays at The Hermitage, Mount Cook, have returned to town.

The Hon. J. A. Hanan and Mrs Hanan, who left on Monday for Wellington to meet their son, Dr Clarke Hanan, who is returning from England, will return to Dunedin to-mor-row.

The Misses Diana and Sylvia Orbell, of Timaru, will leave Dunedin to-mor-row for Lake Hawea, where they will be the guests of Mrs Riley. Miss Jessie Elliott, Wellington, is the guest of Lady_ Ferguson, Wychwood, Musselburgh Rise. Miss M. A. Cargill returned on Monday from Christchurch. Mrs F. H. R. Neville, of Christchurch, who is paying a flying visit to Dunedin, is the guest of Miss M. A. Cargill, Castle street. Mr and Mrs J. Hutchison left to-day for a holiday in the north. Mrs A. W. Morgan, Christchurch, who has been visiting Dunedin, is spending a few days in Invercargill. Mr and Mrs Arthur Macandrew passed through Dunedin on Tuesday on their way north, after a pleasant motoring tour through New Zealand. Professor and Mrs Hewitson left on Monday for Queenstown. Mrs Angus Cameron has returned from a visit to Wellington. Miss Dorothy Clark left on Tuesday on a visit to Winton, as the guest of Miss Isabel Shand. Miss Jean' Nicolson is at present spending a holiday at Alexandra. Mrs Firkins and her son, of Te Aroha, are the guests of Mrs King, Young street, St. Kilda. Mrs C. Speight, Miss Winnie Speight, and Mr Colin Speight left on Tuesday for Waimate, to attend the SpeightNapier wedding, which took place today. The Rev. L, A. North and Mrs North, of Christchurch, who are at present visiting Dunedin, are the guests of Dr and Mrs Everard North, Como street, Maori Hill. Mr and Mi's J. Yock, of Auckland, left on Wednesday morning last by the Mataroa for a trip to the United Kingdom and the Continent. _ They will return later in the year via Suez. In the State registration examination for nurses held in December the following nurses trained in Dunedin Hospital were successful:—Nurses W. Gibson and Z. L. Fulton obtained over 75 per cent, marks, and Nurses Dorward, Sim, Miller, Davies, Flannery, Mackay, M'Govern, and M. Campbell passed.

Thomson made a most efficient AI.C., and the music supplied by the Paramount Dance Band added greatly to the enjoyment of the 15U couples who were present on the occasion. On Saturday evening Air and Airs G. J. Barton gave a delightful party at their homo in honour of the members of the visiting Australian ladies’ tennis team. The numerous guests, after being received in the entrance hall by Air and Airs Barton, spent a very pleasant evening with dancing and bridge. The lounge, where a sumptuous supper was setwed, »was artistically decorated with crimson gladioli and gaillardias, young Australian gum leaves being used for foliage. During the evening numerous musical items were given, among the contributors being Aliss N. Hall, one of the. Australian visitors, who gave several pianofore selections in addition to acting as accompaniste during the evening. Air S. Falconer delighted with songs, and Air J. Jack with musical sketches. Airs Barton wore a becoming frock of black chenille velvet, relieved with white. She was assisted in her duties by Aliss Rona Barton (pink chenille velvet frock), Aliss Alavis Barton (coral pink satin frock), and Aliss Lorraine Barton (powder blue georgette frock). Aliss Lloyd, manager and captain of the visiting team, looked charming in a cinnamon brown lace frock trimmed with a large multi-coloured velvet bow; Airs Alolesworth, pink and black gold-brocaded frock; Alisses V, Valkenburg, black lace; J. Hartigan, cerise lace frock, trimmed with black fur; N. Hall, black lace with short black coatee; Airs R. Phillip (wife of the president of the Otago Tennis Association) ' wore a lime green lace frock. The day being gloriously fine, excellent views of the harbour and the numerous beaches were obtained en route, and the visitors expressed admiration of Dunedin’s beauties. A call was made at the Wilford Tea Rooms on the way back, and a happy hour was spent at afternoon tea.
