FOR THE HOME TAILOR
When making a coat collar which is intended to stand upright at the back of the neck, interline that portion with a double thickness of tailor’s canvas which has been covered all over with criss-cross lines of machine stitching put in like quilting. Here is’ a dressmaking hint for you to remember when embroidering on velvet. Lightly press the pile with a warm iron before stamping the transfer on. Then, when the work is finished, raise the pile by steaming the cloth over a kettle of boiling water.
