OUTBREAKS IN NEW SOUTH WALES URGENT NEED OF HELP Tress Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, SYDNEY, January 7. The Minister of Defence (Sir George Pearce) is obtaining a report in order to ascertain whether any members of the defence forces can be sent to aid the exhausted western fire-fighters. It is regarded as likely that hundreds of naval ratings will he mobilised for this purpose and that the State Government will provide rail transportation. POSITION EASIER MANY FIRES SUBDUED. SYDNEY, January 8. (Received January 8, at noon.) The western hush fires position is easier. The wind has died down, and indications are for rain. Many fires have been subdued.
