Warned, for Sydney, The converted whale chaser Taratahi arrived at Port Chalmers last night from Bluff to have alterations, including a fish well, carried out to improve her efficiency as a trawler. The Wingatui' went into dock this morning for cleaning and painting. The American steamer Golden Cross sailed early this morning for Sydney and Newcastle to complete discharge of her Pacific Coast cargo and to continue loading for Aifierica. The Gale, which was forced to shelter at Cape Campbell on Wednesday night, did not arrive at Dunedin from Wellington until this morning. She is to sail to-night for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, hud Wanganui.* The Calm is due in from Lyttelton on Monday to load that day for .Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The John is _ fixed to load here on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. Advice has been received that the Swedish steamer Roxen left Los Angeles on December 27 with , cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. She is due at Auckland about January 18. The Middlesex has been fixed to leave Antwerp on February 6 with basic slag for Auckland, Wellington, and New Plymouth, The Burns, Philp passenger steamer Morinda arrived at Auckland yesterday from Sydney via Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands, and left in the evening for Sydney via the same islands. THE PERRY SERVICE. The Wahine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6,5 this morning, and passengers and mails caught the south express. HAURAKI’S DUNEDIN CARGO. The _ Union Company . advises that Dunedin cargo from Pacific, Coast ports on board the' Hauraki is to bo transhipped at Wellington to a coastal steamer, and should come to hand next week, MIDDLESEX AT LONDON. Cabled advice has been received by the Federal Company that the Middlesex reached London last Saturday. She left Auckland on November 27 tor London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow via the Panama Canal. THE CANADIAN CHALLENGER. _ The Canadian National steamer Canadian Challenger arrived at Dunedin this morning from Montreal via northern ports, and berthed to unload general cargo from Canada and sulphur from Gulf of Mexico ports. Sho is to load hero also, and is to sail early to-morrow for New York. The Canadian Challenger mot with fine weather until about twenty-four hours out from Auckland, when sho_ encountered the tailend of a cyclonic disturbance. Captain E. MAKURA LEAVES RAROTONGA, Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that the R.M.S.
