DIVED BETWEEN CARRIAGES
A SHOCKING DEATH [Pkb Vnitkd Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., January 5. Shortly after 1 o’clock a passenger on the south-bound Napier-Wellington express, David Fox, single, aged thirtyone, jumped from the platform of a carriage and was killed instantly. Fox was a patient in the Porirua Mental Hospital, and had been on leave for Christmas with relatives at Hastings. Ho was returning to the institution, accompanied by his brother-in-law. When the train loft Palmerston North the deceased expressed a desire to leave the stuffy carriage, and did so, his relative going with him. However, immediately they readied the platform he dived, down between the carriages, and was mangled by jblie jvhoels.
