BROADSIDING'S BIG ATTRACTIONS

The programmes at the Speedway Royle have been maintained at a remarkably high -level this season, and the fourth meeting to be held on Saturday night should be the most interesting and spectacular of the season. The big feature of the night will he the appearance of the famous English rider, W. Hull, who will be seen in an international match race in opposition to the two Australian stars, Tommy Tompkins and Laurie Packer. Hull has a reputation equally as good as that of Jackson, who met with such success here last week, and his races with Tompkins and Packer should be full of thrills and action from start to finish. Packer registered fast time in winning his match at Christchurch last week, and Tompkins also rode spectacularly, as might have been expected of him. Hull is one of the most spectacular broadsiders that has ever visited New Zealand, and his appearance hero is being eagerly awaited. The English and Australian stars will appear in the Mosgiel and Royle Handicap, in which the nest of the Otago and Canterbury riders will be seen m action, while it is reported that at least one new rider will be seen on the track. An intertrack contest between teams from the Dunedin Speedway and tbe Christchurch Speedway should be a first-class attraction, as' Canterbury will be represented by “Shorty” Wicks, who rode so brilliantly last Saturday night, and Norm: Gray, another outstanding broadsider, and the local representatives will he Jim Neshit and Lionel Homer, Neshit is now becoming accustomed to his new machine, and rode a great race to win the St. Clair Handicap last week. Homer experienced trouble with his motor, but he can be depended to make up for it this week, and the intertrack matches should he full of incident. Popular prices are being charged as usual, and, given a good night, there should be a Targe attendance. One noteworthy feature of the season’s programmes lias been the expeditious way in which the events have been got off.
