CANADA AND NEW ZEALAND TRADE AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, HONOLULU, December 25. Mr W. Downio Stewart (Minister of Finance and Customs for New Zealand)’ and Mr H. H. Stevens (Minister of Commerce for Canada) arrived on Friday to negotiate a trade agreement. A' preliminary meeting will be held on Saturday. * SESSIONS TO BE SECRET HONOLULU, December 26. The New Zealand and Canadian trade delegations are beginning negotiations here to-day, but it is said that the sessions will be secret, and no announcement will be made of the results until the Governments ratify them* AN OPTIMISTIC SPEECH GOOD TIMES COMING.: MONTREAL, December 26. Mr W. H. Miner, president of tha Canadian Manufacturers’ Association,in the course of an optimistic statement in which he declared that history will repeat itself and good times will come soon, said in part: “ I think Canada should get into the export business to en even greater extent. The Government ought to spend a few thousand dollars and send njen out to get business and make trade treaties. I think we should try to get back that New; Zealand business we lost, and I believe it is a good thing that Mr Stevens is going to negotiate a treaty with New; Zealand.
