Mr R. F. Mitchell,, formerly of Dunedin, and now of the Wairarapa district, is spending a few weeks’ holiday here.
The Rev. E. Swinerd, of Christchurch. is visiting Mr and Mrs A. M, : Barr, Clyde street. Constable J. P. Marsh, who was recently transferred from Waimate to Dunedin, has been appointed acting-de-tective.
Mr E. H. S. Miller, of the ‘ Dominion ’ staff, passed through Dunedin this morning on his way to Wellington.; Messrs J. M. Elliffe (Auckland), W.; A. Smith (Canterbury), J. W. Smeaton (Otago), and P. B. Foote (South Canterbury) have been elected unopposed as members of the Council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants.; In the Hawke’s Bay district, Messrs L.A. Denton, sitting councillor, and M.S. Spence have been nominated; and in tho Wellington district, Messrs Ernest W. Hunt, sitting councillor, and Stanley E. Lambert have been nominated.
Among new guests at the City Hotel are Mr J. Fleming, Miss M. Garrett (Wellington), _Mrg D. Kempshed (Timaru), Mr T. Lister (St. Andrew’s), Mrs M. Angell, Miss B. Angell (Waimate) Mr and Mrs C. Emerson, Mr A. P.Harper, Mr and Mrs J. C. Wykes (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs Sutherland (Timaru), Mr A. R. West (Otautau) are staying at the Excelsior Hotel..
