A TENSE POSITION
SERIOUS FIGHTING EXPECTED Press Association —By Telegraph-Copyright. TOKIO, December 19. ■ Chinchow reports increasing gravity in tho position. Tho naval forces in North China are being kept in readiness to land. Fighting on a largo scale is expected hourly, tho Japanese having ordered tho area to be cleared of bandits and the Chinese main army to ho withdrawn from Lanchow.
FIGHTING REPORTED
TOKIO, December 20. (Received December 21, at 10 a.m.) It is reported that fighting commenced this evening with a Japanese aerial attack pending the arrival of troops. Ten thousand Chinese regulars are moving to tho attack on Mukden.
