WIN FOR HIGH DISDAIN Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright. SYDNEY, December 19. The Australian Jockey Club’s Summer Meeting was opened'to-day. Principal results;— Villiers Stakes, 750sovs. Im.—High Disdain (8.9, D. Munro) 1, Port Said (7.8, Simpson) 2, Pentheus (9.9, Pike) 3. There were seventeen starters, including the New Zealand horse First Acre. Casque d’Or was first to show out from Port Said, and then Trcvallion joined Port Said. Port Said was unable to last in the straight, where High Disdain came through and won easily by three lengths. Panola was fourth. Time, Imin 3Gisec. - Holiday Handicap, 400sovs. 1 im.— Spearman (9.0, J. Munro) 1, Gemlight (8.6, Bartle) 2, Salvador (7.6, Hickey) 3. Twelve started, including the Now Zealander Vertigern. An exciting finish. Won by a head. Time, 2min 4|sec.
