RIFLE SHOOTING

KIWI CLUB The first competition of No. 2 match (seven shots and one sighter at 300, 500, and 600 yards) was fired by members of the Kiwi Defence Rifle Club on Saturday afternoon. The weather was dull, with occasional rain showers. Some good scores were registered, notably by Rifleinan W. Mills, who compiled 98 oft the rifle, including a “possible” at 500yds. This competition conclude' the shooting until after the New I'enr, wh > x thp second and third competitions will be fired on the bottom range. DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB

The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club’shot the first competition for prizes presented by President W. Bannerman on Saturday afternoon. The attendance was twenty-five, and seven shots (one optional sighter) each was fired at 300yds, 500yds, and 600yds. Except for a slight fall of rain and a very, dull light shooting conditions were favourable. At 300yds Rifleman W. R. Murdoch was top with 32. At 500yds Rifleman R. A. Maclcie was highest with 33. At 600yds Rifleman W. A. Graham and President W. Bannerman each scored 32, the former taking pride of place on the count back. President W. Bannerman headed the day’s aggregate with 93.
