BROADSIDING
COMPANY FORMED LOCALLY SEASON TO OPEN SHORTLY A broadsiding company lias been formed locally, and Jlr Harry Divers, who is one of those associated with tho project, stated yesterday that it was hoped to open the season during the first week in December. The company is importing three or four Victorian riders, who will be kept here practically for the season. Only six English riders are coming to the dominion, and four of them are going to the North Island speedways, the other two being under direct contract to Stadiums Ltd., Christchurch. The latter two will appear hero in duo course. Visitors to the city this week were tho president (Jlr W. A. Spragg, of Hawera), the vice-president (Mr I. R. Jones, of Wellington), and tho secretary (Jlr A. Way, of Marton) of the Autocycle Union. A conference was held with the management of the local speedway, and Jlr Divers stated that it was interesting to know that in future tho benevolent fund will bo controlled by tho Autocyclo Union. The riders will .come directly within tho scope of the union, and, in tho event of accidents, disbursements will bo inado by the union. In order to build up the fund for the riders’ benefit, £oo is to bo contributed by each speedway, as well as 2J per cent, of tho gross takings of each meeting.
