EMPIRE'S RELEASES TO-MORROW At, tbo Empire Theatre to-morrow two British Films of exceptional merit will bo released Tho chief attraction will be ‘ Children of Chance,’ starring Elissa Laudi, the story of which tells how Lia, successful in crime, is suddenly embarrassed by the unwelcome appearance of Geoffrey, her husband, from temporary retirement from flit law-abiding world. She lias ensnared Gordon, a, wealthy man about town, who lias used his influence to open up a theatrical career for Lia, and, in order that she may look the part when confronting the theatrical producer, loans her a necklace. Geoffrey needs money, and the fact of his wife possess ing a valuable necklace suggests to him a inodo of satisfying his need. Lia has other ambitions. Bho arranges with her husband that they travel to the Continent by different routes, and that who lake the necklace to whore they nan dispose of it and share tho proceeds. Arriving at tho destination, Geoffrey finds his wife lias hoodwinked him, anil docs not keep the appoint nient. Suspecting this as a ruse v> get liim out of the way, he immediately returns to London._ Binnie Mar an ont-ofwork chorus girl, bears >i strange resemblance to the notorious Lia, and by chance she receives an appointment to meet a pcsudo-Mia producer looking for talent. The meeting is to take place at tho same place, where it so happens that Gordon is to moot Lin in order to present her to his theatrical friends. When Binnie on tors Gordon mistakes her for Lia, and flic bewildered girl suddenly finds herself confronted with the opportunity of receiving an audition from one M London’s greatest theatrical magnates, Neither Gordon nor tho pro dneor will listen to her attempts to explain the mistake, and she finds herself given iho opportunity to star in a forthcoming production. Binnie signs her contract under her assumed name, and she and Gordon are thrown together. Tho story then works up to a totally unexpected, though thrilling, climax. On the same hill Leslie Fuller, tho famous comedian of wur-timo comedy, last seen hero in ‘ Not Bo Quiet on the Western Front,’ will appear in 4 Old Soldiers Never Dio,’ which is said to he even more comical than his previous clover effort.
