BANK OF ENGLAND
THE CREDIT ARRANGEMENTS FAVOURABLE EFFECT ON LONDON STOCK MARKETS (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright. RUGBY, August 4. (Received August 5, at 11.30 a.m.) The developments in connection with the credit arrangements for the BanJc of England which occurred during the week-end are reflected in the condition of the stock markets to-day. The effect of the recent banking developments is regarded as an entirely favourable factor in the general outlook on the London Stock Exchange and in the Foreign Exchange market. When business was resumed this morning after the holiday the rate of exchange London on Now York was 4.85 J, and London on Paris 123.90. In the stock markets the marked strength of certain leading gilt-edged securities was the feature of the business when the Exchange opened.
