Tbo fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Centenary Lodge was held in the AVesley Street Hall, South Dnnedin, tho-N.G. (Bro. Boreham) presiding over a good attendance of members and visiting brethren. Tho meeting carried a resolution of sympathy with tho sufferers in the recent earthquake. It was reported that a cricket match had recently been .played with the Tomahawk Cricket Club, and it was decided to play a return on a date to be decided at the next meeting. . Arrangements were made for a visit to tho Prineo of Wales Lodge. (Port Chalmers) on Wednesday evening, 'ibo lodge was adjourned early to enable two Past Grands (Bros. Hose and Al'Allen) to carry out their evening. This took the form of a card tournament, and after an enjoyable series of games tho N.G. Giro. Boreham) proved the prize-winner, P.G. Bro. Pithio (Hand and Heart) gaining the second trophy. A hearty vote or thanks was accorded the hosts, visitors from the Loyal Princess Alary, Alalley, Gaversham, Albion, Dnnedin ; . and Hand and Heart Lodges making appreciative reference to the manner in which they had been entertained. The Loyal Gaversham Juvenile Lodge met in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Tor bury Corner, a largo muster of members being present. The N.G. (Bro. A. APKay) presided. The Loyal Princess Alary Lodge wrote stating that members of the Juvenile Lodge would bo entertained on Afarch 3. During the evening members related their holiday experiences, some of tho speeches of the younger brethren proving very interesting. After tho close of business teams representing thef N.G. and V.G. took part in a skittle match, the N.G.’s team winning by a small margin. . Tho N.G. (Bro. W. Park) presided over tho fortnightly meeting of the. Loyal Alosgiel Lodge, which attracted a good attendance of members. Under tho adjourned summoned meeting Per. See. Bro. Weir presented the annual balance-sheet and auditors’ report, which was adopted. Sympathetic reference was made to the loss suffered by Bro. D. Stevenson, whose son was killed in the recent earthquake, and tho meeting carried a motion of sympathy, members standing m silence. A considerable amount of business was transacted, and, owing to this, tho evening arranged by the elective officers had to bo cancelled. During the evening one candidate was initiated. . , The first meeting for 1931 of the Loyal Prince of Wales Juvenile Lodge was held at Port Chalmers, and was presided over by the N.G. (Bro. B. Johnston). Advice regarding the annual picnic of combined juvenile lodges was received from the secretary of tho Juvenile Council. Tho lodge adjourned at an early hour, and the bovs took part in indoor games. A meeting of the adult Management Committee was then held, at which U.G. Pro. J. Clarke was elected president and N.G. Bro. J. G. O’Neil vicepresident. It was decided to draw-up a programme for the current year, and various methods of providing suitable entertainment for the boys were suggested. . At tho fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, hold at Port Chalmers, there was a very good attendance of members, the N.G. presiding. A cordial welcmne., was extended to P.G. Bro. Clifford, an old member, who-recently, returnee! to the Dominion, after a lengthy absence in the Hast; whore he . is engaged in ..the tin dredging industry. Bro. Clifford, in responding, promised to attend the Juvenile Lodge at a later date and relate to tho boys his interesting experiences during his . absence, Ihc syllabus for tho evening was cards and a vote of thanks was accorded P.G.’s Bros. S. Jack. W. D. Campbell, and P.P.G.AI. Bro. W. Johnston, who provided the trophies. Bro. Cameron (Loyal Dunedin) acknowledged tho toast of ‘ Visiting Brethren.’ There was a largo attendance of members and visiting brethren at the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Victoria Lodge, held at Alilton cm Wednesday evening. Tho N.G. (Sister H. Smith - ) was in the chair, and extended a welcome to visitors from Loyal Outram and Alilton Lodges. One niember declared on tho funds of the lodge, and two members were Initiated! Correspondence was received from tho Prov. See. (Bro. J. A, Hopcraft) regarding tho annual meeting <?f delegates to bo hold at Dunedin in March, asking for tho appointment <if delegates from the lodge. Business was qnjckly dealt with, after which a successful dance was held. Good music was supplied by Bro. W. Taylor, with extras by Bro. Snow, of tho Chitram .Lodge, the duties of Al.C.’s being capably carried out by P.G.’s Bros, Gray and Lilburno. The N.G., Bro. A. D. Woodhead, presided over a largo muster of members at the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Alilton Lodge, held last Monday evening. Tho report of tho sick visitors disclosed a fairly’heavy sick list, three members being declared on the funds and six off tho funds. A letter from tho Loyal Gaversham Lodge regarding an official visit was received. A letter was also received regarding a meeting of tho South Otago Friendly Societies’ Council. Congratulations were extended to a member of .the lodge, Bro. George Murray, whose sou had won tho Harrop Scholarship for 1931. A degree meeting was held later, the lectures being impressively delivered by P.G. Bro. R. Baird. An initiation cromony was held, two new members being initiated into tho order. Tho Loyal Gaversham Lodge mot in the Oddfellow’s Hall, Forbury Corner, on Wednesday evening, when the lodge, was the scene of tho first of tho official visits set down for’ 1931. Tho attendance was most gratifying, over 151) members of tho order being present. Tho following lodges were represented: —Loyal Princess Mary, Centenary, Valley, Alosgiel, Outram, Palmerston, Albion, Hand and Heart, and Dunedin; while two members of tho Loyal Nelson and Addington (Christchurch) Lodges wore also present. Th members of the District Executive attended. The N.G., Bro. E. A. Lucas, presided, and extended a cordial welcome to tho visiting brethren. A number of business matters were first dealt with, including correspondence, and tbo reception of tho sick visitors’ report. Tho secretary was instructed to write to tho Unity Lodge suggesting March 11 as a suitable date for the half-yearly card match. Nominations wore opened for delegates to tho annual district meeting, and one new member was initiated. 11 was decided to miter a team for the initiation competition, Bro. R. D. Souuess undertaking the duties of coach. Letters were received from tho Queen of'Otago Lodge and from Bro. T. K. Sidpv extending best wishes for a successful function. Advice was received' that lire. APGregor, a member of tho Jodge, had been injured in tho Napier earthquake, and had been admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital. Sympathetic reference was made to those who

had suffered by the disaster, and the meeting passed a resolution of sympathy The members of tho District Executive later addressed the meeting, tho ■announcement by P.D.G.AI. Bro. E. Longworth that the Gaversham Lodge had won tho Efficiency Shield being greeted . with hearty applause. The P.D.G.M. presented to Perm. See. Bro. R. D. Softness a twenty-five years' membership medal, and made appreciative reference to tbe recipient’s line services not only, to bis own lodge, but for tlie order in general. Bro. Souness suitably responded. P.P.G.AI. Bro. P. H. Young, in responding to tbe toast of the executive, stated that this was his final official visit as a district officer. and he desired to take this opportunity of thanking members for their support and assistance during bis term of office. Bros. J. Hopcraft and A. Sligo also acknowledged the toast. Representatives of the various visiting lodges having spoken, the meeting then closed.
