PRICE OF BUTTER
WHOLESALE RATE INCREASED BY A PENNY From iliis morning tlic wholesale prifo of butter was increased by one penny per lb, tins making the current price Is Id per lb. TJio manager of one of the largest dairy companies stated that the increase in price was the result of a slight, improvement in the export marcot, and that the local wholesale rate could really have been increased a little more The improvement in the export ■■ate should, lie considered, be wcl omed by everyone at the present time. Retailers will probably readjust tbcii prices in accordance with the increased wholesale rate. At present, however, there is a good deal of competition and price-cutting in grocery lines, and the representative of one very large grocery firm stated that the butter at his shop would continue to bo sold at Is a lb.
