TRADES HALL BRAWL

COMMUNISTS AND LABOUR COUNCIL DELEGATES CHAIRS AND TABLE LEGS AS WEAPONS OVER A DOZEN PEOPLE INJURED Pres» Awocbtion—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, November 28. (Received November 28, at 10.5 a.in.) Using chairs, table legs, and fists Communist Party supporters attacked Labour Council delegates in one of the fiercest brawls seen at the Trades Hall for many years. More than a dozen people were injured, including Mr RKing, the Labour Council organiser, who was hit with a chair while trying to defend Mr J. S. Garden. The furniture was smashed to pieces and a door was wrenched from its hinges. The police were unable to gain admittance until someone inside took down one of the doors and admitted them. The fighting then subsided, but the Communists were in control and celebrated by singing the ‘ Red Flag. No information was laid and no arrests were made. Delegates who tried to defend the Government, principally Mr Garden, were early howled down by the packed gallery.
