WELLINGTON, November 6. Tho following are tho estimated areas under wheat, oats, barley, and potatoes (season 1930-31) in New Zealand, according to a return contained in tonight’s ‘ Gazette ‘; —Wheat, 243,000 acres (South Island 239,300, North Island 3,700) ; oats, 322,000 acres (South Island 305,500, North Island 16,500): barley. 25,250 acres (South Island 23,350, ‘North Island 1,900); potatoes, 24,000 acres (South Island 19.600, North Island 4,400). The totals last season were;—Wheat, 238,653 acres; oats, 282,814- acres; barley, 18,631 acres; potatoes, 23,314 acres.

The general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand Limited has received a cable message from London advising that the board had ordered the payment of an interim dividend for the half-year ended September 30 last at the rate of 12 per cent, per annum, free of tax, payable on January 3.
