BOXING
HECTOR LECKIE V. GILLESPIE Great interest is being taken in the meeting of Norman Gillespie, former light-weight champion of Australia, and Hector Leckie, light-weight champion of New Zealand, at His Majesty’s Theatre on Monday night. Gillespie is an old favourite in Dunedin, where his splendid showing against Johnny Leckie a couple of years ago is still spoken of.’ Gillespie states that ho is in firstclass form for the bout, and he hopes to show that he was not at his best when he fought in the north. Hector Leckie has been training hard under Archie Leckie’s direction, and as he is a solid short puncher it should bo a willing and fast bout, with the Dunedin man making the Australian do his best all the way. .In addition to the big bout there will be another splendid attraction in the meeting of Bert Lowe, New Zealand amateur welter-weight champion, with an opponent from Wei liiigton over six rounds, and those who have seen Lowe in action are keenly looking forward to this bout. The box plan for reservations is now open.
