SUMMER SHOW

The Otago A. and P. Society’s Show Committee is making all the necessary arrangements in connection with the Summer Show to be held at Tahuna Park this month. The sub-commit-tee appointed to deal with the competitions has paid several visits to the grounds, and has given instructions for tho erection of the different jumps to carry out the various competitions. The programme for the People’s Day (Wednesday, November 26) is an extensive one, and to ensure all the events being promptly carried out a time-table has been arranged. The grounds have received special attention throughout tho year, and are in an excellent condition. Tho Grounds Committee has decided that motor cars will be parked at the north end of the grounds, thus giving more space for the handling of stock. To cater further for the public, thanks to tho Ocean Beach Domain Board, a portion of the sandhills at the back of tho cattle pens will be used as a grand stand. This is. a natural, elevated site, and will gitai the public an excellent opportunity of seeing all events. _ As tho entrance to these grounds is direct from the park, no charge will he made, which will no doubt relievo tho pressure on tho grand stand. Arrangements have been completed with Mr Hogg to announce tho results of tho various competitions as soon as the judges have made their decision. The City Council has met the request of the committee, and reduced the tram fares to Tahuna Park. The committee confidently appeals to the public to support the show, which can be visited at a total cost of Is 6d, covering admission to the grounds and return tram fares. The business community will close tboir premises at noon on the People’s Day, which is recognised as a show half-holiday, and the promoters of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association’s exhibition fully recognise the society’s claim on that afternoon, and will not open on the show day until 5 p.m. For some, years past the society has been most unfortunate, as regards the weather, and consequently made a serious _ loss at the summer shows. The committee, in addition to the numerous expenses incurred in carrying through the show, has committed the society to a liability of close on £9OO in prise money, arid this can only be met by the generous support of breeders and the general public.
