TWO SELECTORS APPOINTED
OTAGO CRICKET ASSOCIATE PREVIOUS MOTION RESCINDED Being unable to secure any of those competent to act for the position of sole selector, tfie General Committee of the Otago Cricket Association at its meeting last night, presided over, by Mr G A. Wycherley, decided to rescind the previous motion approving of the appointment of a sole selector. The Chairman said that those whose names had been suggested for the position had been, approached, but there seemed to be no one willing to act. • Mr G. A. Martin said that under those circumstances he could only move that the previous motion approving of the appointment of a sole selecter be rescinded.
Mr G. G. Austin said that Mr W. Butler was prepared to think over the matter of. accepting nomination if he wore allowed a week to consider it. Mr Wycherley said that there had been a suggestion that two selectors might be appointed, and that Mr Butler was willing to act with Mr F. Williams.
Mr J. M. Fraser said he did not think it mattered if consideration of tho appointment were held over. Mr W. A. Rowland did not consider it worth while waiting n r longer. The motion was earned, and t«r Row land then moved that Messrs F. Williams and W. Butler be appointed joint selectors, Mr Martin seconding the motion, which was carried. Subsequent to the General Committee meeting the Management Committee met, Mr Wycherley presiding. Mr Fraser, on behalf of the Coaching Committee, reported that Carisbrook would be available for coaching practice on Tuesday next, and the secretary reported that the use of wickets at Carisbrook for coaching purposes had been granted by the Otago Rugby Union as follow Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Colts from 5 onwards; M'Glashan College,' Tuesday, 2.30 to 4.30: Wednesdays, 2.30 to 5; Christian Brothers’ High School, Thursdays, 3.30 to 4.30. and Fridays, ,3.30 to 5. Mr Rowland reported that fourth grade matches would commence on Saturday next. Tho Secretary of the Grange- Club wrote reporting that Old Roys defaulted to Grange in the third grade last Saturday. Inconvenience was caused to Grange members, as the match was set down to be played at Bathgate Park, The Secretary said no explanation had yet been received from the Old Boys’ Club, and the Chairman said that tho committee should be strict in the matter of defaulting teams. Tho grade rules should be abided by. Mr Rowland said tho Old Boys’ third grade team had defaulted eight times last season.
It was decided to fine the Old Boys’ Club 6s in accordance with tho rules.
