ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
CHILD KNOCKED DOWN. PearJ Trudgeon, aged seven years, while cycling to school at Blenheim, was knocked over by a motor car. She was picked up unconscious, but her condition has slightly improved. CAUGHT IN MACHINERY. Donald Laing, aged twenty, a son of Gordon Laing, of Upper Plain, Masteiton, was killed while working n wood salving plant at Rewarewa Station, Tiiuii. It appears that the belt came 'oft the machine, and the deceased, in attempting to stop the engine, got caught in the machinery. The deceased’s neck was broken and his skull fractured, SUICIDES. A retired farmer, William John Wilson, aged sixty-three, was found dead in his home in Stourbridge street, Christchurch, with ins throat cut. At the inquest later in the day the coroner found that Wilson committed suicide while in a depressed state of mind. A verdict that Horace Rosmdale committed suicide while depressed was returned by the coroner (Mr E. D. Mosley) at the inquest at Christchurch. Rosindale’s body was discovered at the foot of the cliffs at Sumner. KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR CYCLE. A middle-aged man named Frederick Eadv was admitted to the hospital at 10 “p.m. yesterday, suffering from injuries* to his head and hand, lie was knocked down by a motor cycle at the corner of the Main South road and Glen road. His condition is not considered to be serious.
