(Received November 6, at 10 a.m.) The Hornier Do.X has left Friedrichshaven for America via Amsterdam and Calshot. , ARRIVAL AT AMSTERDAM, AMSTERDAM, November 5. (Received November 6, at 11 a.m.) The Dornier Do. X. has arrived. DETAILS OF THE GRAFT According to information received by the Vacuum Oil Company, the Dornier Do.X, which is the largest heavier-than-air machine in the world, will travel by way of England and the Bermudas. The machine is designed to carry 100 passengers and a crew of fourteen. Its weight fully loaded is 55J tons, and it has a disposable load of 28 tons. On a 1,550-mile non-stop flight a payjoad of II tons can be carried. With 7,300 h.p. its maximum speed is given as 150 mues per hour, and throttled down it can cruise at 115 miles per hour. Recent advice received from Germany discloses that the Siemens Jupiter Radial air-cooled engines originally installed have been replaced by twelve Curtiss Conqueror water-cooled engines, each developing 600 h.p. The reason for this change was, stated to bo the difficulty experienced in cooling the rear bank. . The lower dock is used lor the storing of fuel and oil. Fuel tanks having a capacity of 3,500 gallons are provided, two of these tanks being installed in the wing. The navigation room is located .on the top deck between the pilot’s room and tho_ control room. It is equipped in a fashion similar to that of seagoing vessels, complete with chart desk, sea charts, chronometer, service compass, altimeter, clocks, sextants, navigating instruments, and telephone to all parts of tho boat. i The crew will consist ot a commander, two pilots, a navigation officer, wireless operator, and engineer and seven mechunics, and one steward. Berths tor tho crew are provided in tho form of mflatable rubber mattresses and sleeping ba fh9 lower deck is subdivided into seven compartments by means of watertight bulkheads. Each compartment is Sided with a fire extinguisher and pump installations, winch can be operated from a central place. Sellinflating lifeboats, cork jackets, and other floating equipment are on board seagoing vessels. Sea anchors are stowed for use when drifting in heavy seas. Ample materials and facilities for repair are provided in the general equipment. The wireless equipment consists of a main transmitter with a wave range of from 600-2,100 metres, a short-wave transmitter with a wave range of from 30-60 metres, and a seven-valve receiver covering the whole range between 20 and 3,000 metres. Power is supplied by a motor generator fed from tho lighting circuit with a storage battery connected in parallel. This battery serves as a stand by in case of failure of the generating plant. _ Direction-finding equipment, as an aid ,tp navigation, is installed.
