MAORI HILL SCHOOL
SUCCESSFUL SALE OF WORK Very generous support'was accorded the annual sale of work of the Maori Hill School, opened in the Coronation Hall yesterday afternoon and continued in the evening. Various competitions added interest to the proceedings. The following were the results:— Children’s Baking.—Plain scones— Florence Johnson and N. Bush (equal); pikelets—Edna Ferguson 1, Joy Maydon 2; nut loaf, Juno Gilbert; plain sponge, Nooliuo Martin; plain tolled, Margaret Adamson; fruit toffee, Margaret Adamson; butter scotch, Joy Maydou; cocoauut ice, Una Smith. Girls’ Sewing.—Plain sewing (Mrs Duncan’s prize), June Fume; article made from a sugar hag (Mrs Maydon’s prize)—Sheila Campbell 1, Doreen Freeman 2. ADULTS’ BAKING. Girdle scones, Mrs Ferguson. Gems, Mrs Glen. . ■ Pikelets, Mrs Ferguson (highly commended) . Nut loaf—Mrs Neil and Miss Glen (equal). Shortbread, Mrs May don. Plain sponge—Mrs Farquharson, Mrs Turner highly commended. Blitter sponge—Miss Glen 1, Mrs Scott 2 Billy sponge, Mrs Hayward, Mrs Philip and Miss Little acted as judgo of the competitions.
