QUEEN'S DRIVE
Mr W. J. Wilson presided over a good attendance of members and friends at the opening of the Queen’s Drive Boating- Club, held in the boathouse on Saturday afternoon. The Chairman, in his opening, remarks, expressed pleasure at seeing such a good attendance, and went on to compliment the club on the manner in which the plant was looked after. Ho spoke at some length on various matters of interest to the club. He also referred to the nomination of Mr S. G. Styche as president of the N.Z.A.R.A. for 1930-31. Mr Styche thanked the club for its invitation to association members to he present. Regarding the selection of the Empire Games eight, he hoped that when he went to the N.Z.A.R.A. s annual meeting this month he would be able to say wnat was thought of the matter among Otago oarsmen generally. However, it might be a difficult matter if he were elected president. In conclusion he wished the club every success. , Mr C. R. Caffin spoke on behalf of the Otago Rowing Club, stating that the club should look to' its younger members to form its maiden and youth Dodds spoke on behalf of the
vice-presidents, and wished the club a successful season. Mr L. Fountain (club captain) thanked the speakers for what they had said about the club, and hoped that all would have an enjoyable afternoon.
