MUSIC WEEK
♦ At tho present time, when so much publicity is being given to jazz, and other musical importations from America, the musicians of New Zealand considered that something should be done to direct the attention of the younger generation towards the music which has stood the test of time. Consequently, at the conference held in Palmerston North last December, it was decided to hold a “ music week ” throughout the dominion, Festivals have already been hold in tho northern centres, but in Dunedin it is considered that, as there had alrcadv been a festival in connection with the opening of the Town Hall, and as there had been a great number of concerts, it would be advisable to give only ono concert. This concert, to be given by the Otago Society of Musicians, will take place on September 24, and a programme of great interest, consisting of choral, vocal, and instrumental items has been arranged. The public will have an opportunity of healing works that are noi often given on the local concert platform, and, as the performers are all well known, the quality of the entertainment is assured. The proceeds will ho devoted to tho Plunket Society. The box nlan arrangements are advertised.
