WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17.(Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.)' PROBATION GRANTED. Andrew , James Johnson Maclnnes and Leslie John Roberts appeared for sentence on a charge of stealing a rug and other appliances of a-total value of £ll, the property of Harry Pryde. His Worship said that - the offenceAvas due to a craze for motoring, and in view of all the circumstances he would grant probation in each case for two years, subject to certain conditions. IDLE AND DISORDERLY.
Ada Wells pleaded guilty to being an idle and disorderly person in that she had insufficient lawful means of support.—Evidence was given by Constable Garnon that the accused, who was eighteen years of age, had dona little or no work for two years. She had been in the hospital, and about a week ago was arrested. She was beyond control. The accused was remanded for medical observation .for seven days. DRUNKENNESS. A statutory first offender, George Bennett, was fined 10s, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment.
