NO ALTERATION POSTPONEMENT OF CENSUS [From Our Parliamentary Eeportir.] WELLINGTON, September 16. There will be no alteration of tbo electoral boundaries of New Zealand before the next General Election, according to a statement made in _ the House to-day by Mr Atmore (Minister in Charge of the Electoral Department). The question had been broached by several members, who were curious to ascertain whether, in consequence of the announced intention of the Government to postpone the taking of the quinquennial census this year, the customary redistribution of seats would be undertaken by the boundary commissioners. Questions were also asked as to the basis upon which the commissioners arrived at their decisions to alter the boundaries. The Minister intimated that the necessary legislation enabling the census to be postponed would Ire introduced before the close of the session, and that there would bo no alteration in the boundaries before the next General Election. Mr Samuel (Thames) ; Provided the legislation is passed? The Minister: “Yes.” He added that the considerations affecting the ?1teratiom of boundaries were mainly those of population and geography. .
